Disability insurance and Social Security Benefits

Will the benefits from my individual Disability insurance policy offset with Social Security benefits?

This depends on what type of contract you have and what type of benefit you have. Every disability contract has a “Base” benefit, which will not offset with any Social Security benefits you receive. In addition to a “Base” benefit, companies offer a lower cost benefit that can be added to policies called “Social Insurance Offset Benefit”. This type of benefit will offset dollar–for–dollar with any Social Security benefits you are eligible for.
